Bicycle disaster

The other day I was standing on the terrace when I saw two girls cycling their way down from somewhere. It was then that my mind travelled to the day when I was in 9th standard and I was returning back from my mathematics tuition with two of my friends. Now let me introduce you to these friends of mine. One of them was Naina; she is my buddy since kindergarten and a really pleasant personality. She possessed this special trait of never getting her bicycle repaired until things went out of hand.  And the other one was Shivangi. Trust me she was the fussiest girl I ever met. She got annoyed at every small thing and was grouchy most of the times. But she has improved a whole heap over time.  We used to go there on our cycles and every now and then we used to race our way back home. My dad had bought me a new cycle and Naina wanted to ride it. So we exchanged our vehicles. I suggested that we are going to have a race and we’ll see who wins it. All agreed. As we started the race I was leading with Shivangi following me closely and Naina far behind her. I was pretty sure of it that the breaks of Naina’s cycle would be out of use as always and I don’t know what came into my mind I applied the brakes and  to everyone’s horror and astonishment… they WORKED!!
Since Shivangi was cycling really fast, her cycle came and hit mine and the next thing I remember is we both lying flat on the ground in the following order-
Shivangi
Shivangi’s cycle
Naina’s cycle
I at the top.
I got up instantly and Naina also came and stopped there. And instead of helping her in getting up we both were standing there and laughing madly at her. As she lied there in wait we continued with our giggling. Finally when she began to yell at us we picked up both the bicycles and lent a hand to her.
We continued laughing our head off all the way back and Shivangi went on with her sulking and huffing.
It’s been more than 5 years. But till today, whenever we get together we surely kick around this topic and positive part is that even Shivangi has learnt to laugh over such petty things.

  1. Memories of the past, specially when we made a fool of ourselves always make us laugh, neh? :D
